Abstract

According to Avicenna's theory of knowledge, intellectual knowledge in human beings is explained via the inherence of intelligible forms in the soul. In this paper, I will show that the inherence of intelligible forms in the soul is at odds with the soul's immateriality.

Abstract

Philosophers have defined wisdom in different ways. Most definitions refer to knowledge, but they do not agree that knowledge includes or is limited to both theoretical and practical knowledge. The definition of wisdom to understanding or to justified beliefs instead of justified true belief that is knowledge is another difference. In addition to all this, the definition of wisdom to virtue, due to its variety and complexity, is another thing that makes the definition of wisdom more difficult. Linking the discussion of wisdom with the characteristics of the sage in contemporary philosophical literature due to the various debates that have been made about the necessity of each of the components of knowledge and action further obscures the exact meaning of wisdom. While analyzing the various definitions offered by contemporary analytical philosophers on the nature of wisdom, the present article explains the relationship between wisdom and knowledge; knowledge as a necessary and sufficient condition for wisdom, a necessary but not sufficient condition, and neither necessary nor sufficient condition. Then, wisdom is considered an intellectual or epistemic virtue and a necessary condition for acquiring knowledge. After evaluation, it shows that although among the proposed states, the first state with special conditions can better express the definition of wisdom than the others, wisdom has a meaning beyond propositional knowledge. Finally, it emphasizes the importance and necessity of a more accurate explanation of this phenomenon.

Abstract

In Sadra's philosophy, existence is introduced as good, and levels of existence are also levels of goodness. He in his Ethics believes in intrinsic and rational goodness and ugliness. In this article, we will discuss the relationship between these two parts of Sadra's thought and we will show that Originality of existence can be a rational basis for defending inherent goodness and ugliness. The main claim is that the originality of existence and levels of existence also have normative dimensions. In the following, Sadra's ethics will be compared with the view of his two contemporary philosophers and it will be argued that Sadra's moral system is opposed to Cartesian voluntarism because he defends moral goodness by relying on intellect and does not consider moral rules to be subject to human will. Also, his realistic ethics is different from empirical utilitarianism and because he accepts the relation between existence and goodness, his ethics is a practical obstacle against meaninglessness and nihilism.

Surveying the problem of emanation in Farabi's view, has some difficulties like that does for Farabi this problem is a fundamental problem in metaphysics or a secondary one? In this issue we are confronted with two main difficulties: one is that some scholars doubted to two Farabi's works that he discussed there the problem of emanation, mean Fosus Al-hekam and Ouoon Al-masael. They cannot say that these two books certainly are Farabi's books. But the more difficult problem is that Farabi's views on the problem of emanation are different in his works. It seem that some of Farabi's books are basically written in the Aristotelian context and some of his books are from his personally views. In addition, there is another difficulty: Farabi discussed the problem of emanation in some of his books that are not basically metaphysical but are psychological. In the present article, we try to survey these difficulties in Farabi's works.

Abstract

During the Safavid era, communications between Iran and India became deeper than before due to the common official language. Persian romantic stories were among the written works during this period in the countries. The question is: "Are Persian romantic stories in the Safavid era in Iran and India fully similar due to the concurrency, common language and existence of similar structures, or have distinction due to different cultural environment?" Some Researches has been done on the storytelling of the Safavid period, But so far, there has been no works published on the influence of intellectual motifs on the Iranian and Indian Persian stories in any of the topics.
In this paper, it has been attempted to answer the question, by analyzing the content of the Stories. Of course, the assumption of this research is that there are many similarities in language, structure, sequences and character's functions in the Persian romantic stories in Iran and India, but despite these similarities, there is a different worldview and attitude towards the characters and events. These differences include: "Death of the lovers at the end of the story", "Girl's freedom in choosing a spouse", "supernatural creatures’ role", “presence of Mysticism and Sufism, "animals’ impact in the story ", "presence of Indian characters" and "independence of the source" that would help to understand the stories written in India from Iranian stories.

Abstract

Seyyed Ali Asghar Mousavi Rokni Assistant Professor, Ghom University This article is discussing methodology scholars' attitude in jurisprudence and divine law about how they can prove the crime and the act of sentence. In usual researching methods, these are followed in legal - penal subjects and its theological aspect is less considered, but within this article, while dividing the subject into sections, including "the quality of responsibility" and "the omission of responsibility and sentence" , the legislator's attitude toward real criminal and the quality of act or abolition of sentence has been discussed. The first section implies the precision of methodology as the jurist's thought supporter to recognize the real criminal, since the presupposition for attributing the title of criminal to someone, is being addressed by divine law and this fact occurs with in the discussion of the quality of responsibility. In the second section, the specific attention of the legislator toward the rights of criminal is discussed and considering the special conditions which the criminal faces, the question of reducing or abolishing of sentence from him or her arises, that means the same important question called "acquittance" and the importance of this matter is that the ignored rights of the oppressed people must also be regarded. Obviously, this article can not include all of the legal-theological discussions in this field, and only some parts of it has been dealt with.

Denison’s Organizational Culture Model (DOCS) was used widely by academics and practitioners today.  However we included the papers has published in Iranian journals that was published in several Iranian universities in a systematic review and results of a meta-analysis suggested that all cultures’ traits; involvement, Consistency, adaptability, and mission have similar measures. We found some methodological errors in the Denison and Mishra (1995) paper. First of all the correlation test wasn’t suite statistical test to compare the four traits of organizational cultures. And finally the five point Likert measurement in not good enough to measure the traits of organizational cultures. We should be concerned about the relation between organizational effectiveness and four traits of organizational cultures based on these methodological errors.

Abstract

Will you not then think? (Al-A›raf/ 169), Almighty God has invited the man to think and reason out anywhere of Qur›an. Intellect and reasoning are concepts that always have been reflected purposively, by philosophers and thinkers, in a different world view and to fit within the definition of man and his distinction from other creatures (animals). For in Shi›ism as a result of the impact of these substantive issues, it became distinguishing school from other schools of thought.» Shia Intellectual Thought» is as a distinctive element of other Islamic thought, affects Shia philosophers, result the definitions of intellectual worlds, and has been manifested in the physical or tangible world. In the meantime, manifests and arts of man-made due to manifesting glories of intellectual world in the world of the senses, the downward trend (trend from God), as well as preparing the ground for development of the human soul in the arc of ascent (trend to God) was considered by many thinkers. So the study, assuming that the art of landscape architecture of the Safavid period, with an emphasis on Shi›ism and thought of philosophers such as MullaSadra as Shiite thinkers could qualify as lasting in the minds of Iranian- Islamic national identity, survey the idea that the rational is this thought. This article attempts to answer this question that components and dimensions of the field of rational thinking and the how Safavid Shi›a architecture are reflected in landscape architecture? This article by considering the implications of appearance and reality, truth and the world of justice, magnitude and geometry as influential concepts in Islamic thought and Shia, is trying to find the relationship between these concepts in landscape architecture of the Safavid period. As the studies show that the Islamic world view has considered for anything outward and inner meaning, as know the birthplace of this world and introduce their meaning in the worlds of meaning and understanding of the essence of the person, even though at the levels of perception. If, as in all affairs are the internal and external traits, man also has the rational soul, not isolated and has both of these attributes. It can be concluded that the effect of landscape architecture and generally any man-made will stay good and durability that is capable of understanding it for appearance and reality. It looks trend or pass from appearance to reality of the body of architecture; means that the matter at the possession of architect became a material distances of its physical mode and closes up to its inner mode. Therefore, the requisite of this trend in the face of material is that to make their essential physical aspects hidden and this could be done by smoothing the levels, generally transparent and delicate, ”removing featuring physical adjectives». Artist man by using the capabilities and capacities of its existence (appearance) and also by resorting to inside can after ascending trend in the world receive intellectual intuition, with the creation of the signs of the world’s top witness in the world (by art and architecture here), be the underlying growth of origin, intellectual and other creatures is to receive the vision. And in these ways need to be able to exhibit these meanings in it. Of the other reviewed concepts in this article can be referred to the concept of justice; Islamic philosophers, hold noumenal true for justice, so that the stability of the world as it is and whatever it outside is doomed to fall and straying and it mediates communication with the realm of the sensible world knows and expresses the position of each object in its place. Islamic thinkers have been written books and numerous articles on this subject and many fields have expressed to justice but here it is enough to pay attention to only the meanings of justice and equity that the purpose of the article and indicate its relationship to the words, and its relation to the brains. With regard to the characteristics and meanings of the word of righteousness and justice, we can fit the words, the balance (for stability), survival, intermediate between the sensible and intelligible world in a set. On the other hand some of these words could have physical meanings, in space design and landscape architecture influence as a result of the intelligible world and the world of the senses are the belts and this is exactly (= proportion, balance and fit everything in its place) is what itcan be used as one of the physical dimensions of rational named one hand, the importance of the sense in Shi›ism (If you are a member of the Shiite religious principles) is next marker of Shiite rational thinking. Designing landscape architecture by worldview of Islamic thinkers and philosophers of Islam, to become inner meanings and the meanings supernatural world of the senses, and to reach outward to the inward journey and vice versa and also a manifestation of the concept of justice requires a tool by which a body of material life, and the divine spirit in which brightens up this way, architecture is a platform for the emergence of rational universe works, and flowering of reason and intellection of its audience, to feed in much higher existence. Organize the space through architecture and landscape architecture, with the aim of reason (and connect with the divine) requires a quality space that is associated. In this regard, according to the divine attribute such a geometry that semantic connection between the sensible and intelligible world is established, the words of the Quran and hadith assistance is intended, and the word ”Magnitude» according to the research conducted and appropriate interpretations of this theme. If more researchers, the geometry of Islamic science in the Quran is so closely linked to the concept and it recreated some sort of divine destiny and determine architectural and geometric forms of art introduced. The relationship between the magnitude and the world, for example, that the importance of the traditions of Islamic art on the principles verify. And in a sense, geometry noted the creation of permanent freezing of the sensible world to the world of the intellectual world that exists and is a language of reason. According to pave the presence of Shi›ism in the Safavid period, causing physical manifestation we see these concepts in landscape architecture, which have a rich concepts, as well as the potential impact of philosophical views during this period, have managed, lasting element in strengthening and lead to enhancing the rational perceptions . This paper tries to rely on the Qur›an, the traditions and ideas of Mulla Sadra, examined landscape architecture of Shiite Safavid of Isfahan within the realm of thinking, reasoning and criteria and physical manifestations of it under rational human perception. This research by using library studies, delving into the philosophical and religious studies, seeking to provide interpretation based on rational thinking in terms of Shia Safavid period. Findings show that the Iranian landscape architecture, especially Iran garden, which has well-known and long-lasting historical background, is a pattern for different centuries; during this period, by using the concepts emerging from this thinking, to concepts like world of justice and much greater.

Abstract

Rapid technological changes, intense competition of enterprises, and globalization have transformed the phenomenon of financial distress and corporate bankruptcy into a major issue in financial and investment literature. Bankruptcy attracted the attention of financial sector activists, including investors, lenders, suppliers, business partners, and governments. Abstract

This article aims at estimating core vocabulary of preschoolers with intellectual disability in Tehran. Stratified matrix sampling was used for choosing and grouping the 90 informants.  Three groups (each group 16 boys and 14 girls) were selected among the preschoolers less than 9 years. Based on Nematzadeh et.al (2005) two subtests were modified and developed: Perceptive and Lexical factors which assessed understanding of 694 and 830 words have been respectively evaluated. 14 informants were chosen for filling the lexical subtest among the teachers. Since there were lots of items in perceptive subtest, from different parts of speech (noun, adjective and verb) 1/3 of them were selected and the students have been told to answer them in 2 different sessions. The data were analyzed using descriptive analytic method. If a word was recognized by 80% of the informants, it was decided to be a core vocabulary (24 out of 30 in perceptive subtest and 4 out of 5 in lexical subtest). 219 and 81 words were listed to be among core vocabularies based on perceptive and lexical subtest respectively. 54 words were common in the lists. So, 246 words were estimated to be core vocabulary of educable mentally retarded preschoolers in Tehran.

Abstract

Today, intellectual capital in firms is an important topic that has drawn the attention of many financial market researchers. Also, firm managers’ compensation results in more value creation. The purpose of this research was to study the relationship between intellectual capital and its components and the board of directors’ compensation at Tehran Stock Exchange listed companies. The study covered a sample of 171 companies between 2007 and 2016. Multi-variable regression and the panel data method were used to test the research hypotheses. Results of testing the hypotheses of this research using Pulic’s model (Pulic, 2000) show that even after controlling company’s board of directors’ size, debt structure (financial leverage) and the independence of the board of directors,  there is a positive and significant relationship between intellectual capital and the board of directors’ compensation. Furthermore, among the components of intellectual capital and the board of directors’ compensation, there is positive and significant relationship between the efficiency of the human capital and the efficiency of capital utilized; but the relationship between the efficiency of the structural capital and the board of directors’ compensation is positive but statistically insignificant.

Abstract

This paper seeks to respond to this major question that if Iran accedes to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and observes copyrights, in the realm of intellectual property, what demand and supply changes would occur in Iran’s book market. To respond the above question first some instances of breaching the copyrights in book publishing sector is investigated. Then calculating the price and income elasticity, the impact of observing the copyrights on price and income, and therefore on the demand and supply for books in short term is demonstrated. The findings of this research reveal that with accession of Iran to WTO and observation of copyright, some of the subsidies to the book sector must be terminated, and also the non-national authors would receive royalties. With elimination of subsidies and payment of royalties book price will increase by an average of 7.5 percent and demand would decrease by 13.35 percent. But, supply will show less sensitivity and its increase in short term would be insignificant. Yet, as experienced in other countries, for numerous reasons such as entering the international markets and increased quality, the printing volume of books will increase. In long term, the experiences of other countries have shown the same trend.

Many academics, worldwide have considered Khatami’s Dialogue of Civilizations as a pow-erful rhetoric and antithesis of the so-called ‘Clash of Civilization’ theory. This article, how-ever, tries to show the originality and depth of Khatami’s vision, framed against the back-ground of ‘the end of history’ and clash of civilization’ theories, political frames used by po-litical actors in the post cold war international order. Citing quotations from the number of speeches delivered by Khatami’s author tries to identify the notions behind the dialogue, which according to him has been influenced by many philosophical and religious trends, and which more of less justifies Iranian foreign policy and protect national interest rather a genu-ine vision to construct peaceful and just world. Further, the present article raises many ques-tions regarding the intellectual indifference and liberal west as non receptive to the dialogue, and thus, specially in the wake of recent unease around the globe.

Abstract

The present research attempted to explore the grounds for granting compulsory licenses of intellectual property rights and the possibility of granting this kind of license in Iranian legal system. Granting of compulsory licenses is possible both in the fields of copyright and industrial property rights. According to the related international instruments such as Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, Bern Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works, TRIPs Agreement and Rome Convention as well as the national laws of many countries, compulsory licenses are granted generally in two grounds: when the right holder abuses his rights and when protection of public interests such as public health, national defense and correction of anti-competitive practices are necessary. Apart from the draft of Iranian patent law and the draft of "Competition Enhancement and Monopoly Regulation", both of which are under review by the Islamic Parliament (Majlis), there are no specific provisions regarding the licenses. However, granting of compulsory licensing may be legally acceptable with respect to Iran’s membership in Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property. The general rule of "prohibition of abuse of right" under the 40th principle of the Iranian Constitution Law may also be another legal basis for compulsory licensing in the case of the abuse of monopoly rights by the IP right holders.
